Lebanon Crisis Response

The conflict crisis In Lebanon that escalated in end September 2024 forced the displacement of over one million children and families. Since then, schools were turned into a place for families to live, disrupting the education of children. The ceasefire announced on 27 November 2024 in Lebanon offers an opportunity for children and families to rebuild their lives. However, in end January 2025, at least 30 civilian casualties were recorded. Access to villages in South Lebanon remains restricted, preventing people from returning home and posing security risks for displaced families attempting to rebuild their lives.

The humanitarian response remains strained, with funding gaps limiting aid distribution, infrastructure repairs and healthcare services. Due to the massive destruction of homes and infrastructure during the conflict, thousands are still unable to return home. They continue to stay in the schools as temporary shelters. Food insecurity continues to rise with 1.65 million people facing crisis-level food shortages.

A considerable international effort is required to rehabilitate houses, infrastructure and schools. World Vision is helping children to catch up with the loss years of education and bring back normalcy in their lives through education retention programmes. World Vision is also supporting displaced families and returnees who are facing severe shortages of winter clothing, bedding and heating. World Vision is distributing food parcels and assisting agricultural households with essential farming tools, seeds and resources to help restart local food production.

Since September 2024, we have reached over 340,000 people and over 119,000 children.
