Connecting with Sponsored Child

Form a special friendship with your sponsored child

Children cherish every letter, photo, or item they receive, and feel loved when they know you’re thinking about them and praying for them.

Please Note: Writing to your sponsored child is not necessary nor an obligation. However, it is encouraged.

Writing a Letter/E-Letter

A sponsored child writing to his sponsor

Connect with your sponsored child by writing to them! You can choose to send your sponsored child a letter or an e-letter!
When writing to your sponsored child, kindly take note of the following:

  1. Consider your sponsored child’s environment and culture. Kindly refrain from writing about material possessions or topics that are culturally inappropriate for your sponsored child.
  2. When sending photos of yourself (or with family/friends), kindly be aware of the level of modesty/standard of clothing.
  3. Do not disclose your contact information in any correspondence. His or her reply will be sent via the National World Vision office where your child is from.
  4. If your sponsored child lives in a religiously sensitive area, kindly refrain from using religious references as these could endanger your sponsored child or World Vision staff.
  5. Kindly allow at least 3 months (or slightly longer due to delays from unforeseen circumstances or conflict) for a reply from your sponsored child.

Important to Note for e-Letters

  • When you send an e-letter, World Vision staff in the community will print it out, translate the letter and deliver both copies to your sponsored child.
  • Kindly note that from October 2021, replies from your sponsored child will also be sent back to you digitally (via email) in our efforts to shift towards a digital experience and improve the correspondence process. Kindly note that replies may still take up to 3 months to be facilitated, we seek your kind understanding on this.
