Youth and Schools

As World Vision Singapore resumes in-person educational trips to the field, we look back at some of the unique learning experiences that students have had from visiting our Area Development Programmes (ADPs) and interacting with local community members and our field teams. In this blog post, three students from Eunoia Junior College share reflections on their visit to Taikkyi ADP and Hmawbi ADP in Myanmar.

On 17-18 December 2022, students and young adults from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam came together for the seventh edition of our annual Youth For Change Conference (YFCC), hosted at Republic Polytechnic, Singapore. The theme of the conference was “Peace Talks”, and was prompted by the recognition that many children worldwide have been affected directly or indirectly by conflict the past year, with crises in countries such as Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Myanmar, and Ukraine drawing the most international attention.

Covid-19 has caused major disruption to the world over the past couple of years. Organisations had to quickly rethink how they conducted their operations in order to comply with the latest Safe Management Measures, as well as how to stay relevant in the changing world. Likewise, the church has to evaluate how it can continue to participate in cross-cultural missions in light of Covid restrictions. When the opportunity to partner with World Vision in a Faith-in-Action Virtual trip to Cebu, Philippines arose, a team of 10 youths and young adults from Yio Chu Kang Chapel quickly jumped on board.
