About Child Sponsorship
"I Never thought there were people who cared!"

At 11 years old, keanny played the role of a parent, taking care of her paralysed brother and working odd jobs to raise enough money for her father's medical fees.

A school dropout and with no money, young Keanny struggled each day to survive. But today, Keanny's face shines at the unexpected turn of events after she became a sponsored child through World Vision's Child Sponsorship Programme.

Child Sponsorship

The Child Sponsorship Programme is all encompassing as it looks at improving the total well-being of a child with a long-term commitment to reduce poverty. The programme provides lasting solutions, not temporary, superficial remedies. That is why, after immediate necessities are met, long-term needs are addressed.

Anyone can become a child sponsor for $45 per month and through this monthly donation, World Vision ensures that your sponsored child and his/her family receives the following benefits:

Food and Agriculture Clean water Healthcare Education and literacy Economic Development
When you become a Child Sponsor, you will receive:
  • A Picture Folder of his/her sponsored child;
  • Annual Progress Report of your child/family and the community that he/she lives;
  • Opportunities to visit and correspond with your sponsored child.

When World Vision helps a child, the focus is always on helping the whole community. Area Development Programmes (ADPs) ensure that the causes of poverty are addressed at the root over a 10 to 15-year period. In this way World Vision helps whole communities help themselves.

In order to achieve such multi-facetted community development, sponsorship gifts are pooled together. Your monthly gift of $45 a month is combined with contributions from other child sponsors in Singapore. Pooling financial resources enables World Vision to maximize the productivity of every dollar and ensures that every member of the community is helped.

The ultimate goal is to see families and communities reach a point of self-sufficiency, thereby giving your sponsored child a better, healthier world in which to live.

The village scene on the left illustrates how this integrated child sponsorship approach helps transform entire communities.
