VisionFund Charity Art Auction – Support Chinese art and do good

“The simple act of wanting to do some good together has resulted in ten members of Life Art Society contributing their art pieces to World Vision Singapore”

- Chi Pin Lay, originator of the donation drive

Come October 6, World Vision Singapore will be collaborating with Life Art Society to organise the first ever VisionFund Charity Art Auction – an event by World Vision Singapore’s microfinance arm – which reaches out to those with a love for traditional Chinese art and a heart for the poor.  This charity dinner celebrates an appreciation of the arts and the spirit of giving with a likeminded community.

World Vision incorporates microfinance into its development work through its wholly-owned subsidiary VisionFund International. Having supported microfinance works since 2009, World Vision Singapore works with a growing community of valued individuals and corporates. Efforts are focused primarily on rural areas, and the initial support and development of these microfinance institutions by donors is crucial.

Funds raised from the VisionFund Art Auction will support villages in Cambodia, Mongolia and Sri Lanka – these microfinance units are able to create long-term sustainability and significant improvements for families that would otherwise be impossible.

About The Artists and Donated Collection

Under the leadership and inspiration of Master Tan Khim Ser, 10 passionate students of Life Arts Society collaborated with World Vision advocate and volunteer Chi Pin Lay to produce a total of 27 original pieces.  The three originals by the grand master himself have bids starting at S$20,000.  These were painted over a span of more than four months with a passionate motivation to support VisionFund.  With almost 40 years of history of promoting the arts in Singapore, Mr. Tan and Life Art Society have successfully contributed to activities that breed the appreciation of art in various venues, such as schools, community centres, country clubs and art competitions. Hundreds of students have benefitted from learning from the master calligrapher and painter.

In addition to Master Tan’s highly sought after art works, his humanitarian efforts and support for charitable causes is also well known. He has specifically created works to raise funds for many organisations such as National Kidney Foundation, Children’s Cancer Society, Community Chest of Singapore and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.
