World Vision Singapore led VisionFund International’s Bankers with Vision meeting on the 28th of January.
Iain Mackenzie, the director of Global Funding and Corporate Finance, described the methods of funding used to support 43 of our microfinance institutions globally.
Bankers with Vision is an intentional framework for the engagement of major donors and high capacity volunteers who wish to avail their time, skills, personal networks and experience to the integrated microfinance ministry of VisionFund International.
The Bankers with Vision programme is being spearheaded from Singapore. The meeting was graciously hosted by the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) at their premises.
Last year, RBS Operations organised a pre-Christmas bazaar as part of Asia Pacific Operations Center (AOC)’s efforts to raise funds in support of a VisionFund Village for Cambodia.
On 9 December, 15 teams and three external vendors set up booths on the ninth floor of One George Street to sell homemade cakes, cookies, Malay delicacies, handicrafts, ornamental candles, gemstones and second hand books, among other delights.
There were also teams that provided services such as manicure treatments, photography services and Wii games.
Previously, RBS Operations also held events such as Beer Brewing, Kimchi-Making and What’s An Aussie? to raise funds. A total of $10,180 has been collected after a one-to-one matching by a personal donor.
