Shoppers at City Square Mall were treated to a very special concert on Saturday, 30 Jan 2010.
Former Singapore Idol vocal coach Babes Conde, veteran singer Robert Fernando, Rai from local acoustic duo Jack & Rai (World Vision Singapore's goodwill ambassadors) and an extensive line-up of talented local artistes got together and lent their voices to the Haiti Haiti charity concert to raise funds for World Vision's Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund.
This emergency charity concert was organised by Cafe Diplo, a local peacebuilding social enterprise, and made possible through the kind support of City Developments Limited (CDL).
In addition, CDL launched a donation drive amongst staff, which was matched dollar for dollar by the company, bringing the collection to a grand total of $30,000 for World Vision's Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund.
Jonathan How, the passionate individual behind the project, took barely a week to gather the artistes, apply for fundraising permits, secure the various partnerships and basically pull off an extremely successful event.
Yet instead of taking a breather and patting himself on the back for a job well done, this driven gentleman is currently busy preparing for Haiti Haiti 2, a follow-up concert for the Mandarin-speaking crowd, which will be held at Chinatown Point during the Lunar New Year festivities.
